The newborn child who was declared dead by ASHA after delivery in Badaun at 12 midnight on Thursday was found alive on Sunday after about 49 hours. The private hospital administration handed over the newborn to the parents. Its videography was also done. The important question is why did ASHA tell the parents that the living child was dead. The name of the mother was changed while admitting the newborn in the private hospital.
Afsana (35), wife of Riyasat Ali, a resident of Patarchoha village in the Muzaria police station area, experienced labour pains on Thursday. The family took her to the district women’s hospital late at night with an ASHA worker, but ASHA Munni did not admit her to the women’s hospital but took her to a private hospital in the city. There, Afsana gave birth to a son at around 12 in the night. His condition was not good. The ASHA worker said that she would get him admitted to the SNCU of the women’s hospital, but ASHA took the newborn to the private hospital, Amritdhara, but told the woman’s husband, who had come with her, that the son was born dead. Riyasat told the same thing to his wife.
The father kept wandering in search of the newborn
On Friday at 10 am, both Afsana and Riyasat went home. The family members asked why they did not bring the child when he was born dead. Riyasat returned to the private hospital on Friday itself, where his wife had delivered. The private hospital said that Asha took his child saying that she will get him admitted in the SNCU of the women’s hospital. When Riyasat was refused admission in the SNCU of the women’s hospital, he kept wandering on Saturday, but when he went to the village and pressurized Asha, Asha revealed the whole matter.
